The tilde in formal logic signifies the negation of the variable directly following it. The tilde is often translated as ‘the opposite of’ X or not X. With this in mind, the tilde school can be understood as the opposite of school or NOT SCHOOL.

School

When you lookup school in various dictionaries you will find something to the effect of: a body of people that follow a master, or a group of people who have common beliefs. You will also find a second definition such as: the grouping of fish to feed or forming into a group often to avoid predators.

Grouping and following is the opposite of our mission at Tilde School. We are here to promote the ultimate wellbeing of our students, classically this is understood as eudaimonia, or human flourishing.

At ~school

Each student negotiates their own projects, timelines and evaluation which will achieve the overall educational goals of their parents and their learning coach.

Parents are expected to provide support, feedback, an environment that is conducive to learning and facilitate student access to resources that may not be available at home.

Tilde School is the place resources and time are available for the student to succeed in their chosen endeavor. We point to ways of integrating novel ideas and approaches to give context to the students' discoveries.
