re·source

/ˈrēˌsôrs,rəˈsôrs/

early 17th century: from obsolete French ressourse, feminine past participle (used as a noun) of Old French dialect resourdre ‘rise again, recover’ (based on Latin surgere ‘to rise’).

a stock or supply of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively.

"local authorities complained that they lacked resources"

Perhaps we can think of resources as:

that which allows us to rise again.

This might more closely resemble resourcefulness, or maybe resiliency.

To me, there is an inexorable link between resourcefulness and resiliency. Both of these are requisite for autonomy and agency.

A computer, a book, a saw or a librarian are all resources. Being able to gain access to them when you need them and being able to utilize them makes you resourceful and autonomous, giving you agency and indapendance.
